What is Shadow work?

Shadow work is practice rooted in both, Tibetian buddhism and modern psychology. Carl Jung is the author of the term ‘shadow’ for everything that we suppress, reject, hide or otherwise disown from our consciousness into the subconscious mind.
It's the part of us we don't want to show to the world.

"Shadow is the person you'd rather not be."

Shadow work addresses these disowned, rejected and suppressed parts of ourselves. They once became subconscious patterns, beliefs and emotions.

Unless we bring them to the surface, they remain unconscious and impact our lives in a destructive way.

In Carl Jung’s theory, as we grow up we create a persona, an ego which represents the part of ourselves we are showing to the world. All the rest we put into our shadow. Once we mature we need to look into ourselves, integrate all those rejected parts so we become whole and balanced again
